How the Carmel (Car-Mel ) Nest came to be...

No exploration of California’s central coast is complete without a visit to Carmel-by-the-Sea, a little town as well known for its shopping as it is for its most famous former civil servant, the Honorable Mayor Clint Eastwood (1986-1987 ) . Can you believe that!

Anyway… Don and I were married in Carmel in 1967. He was stationed in nearby Fort Ord and was about to be shipped off to Viet Nam. We didn’t have much money, but were fortunate to find a quaint little colorful motor court motel that offered the perfect place to nest.

We’ve since traveled back to our beginning many of times and are always so happy to find that our colorful cheery first little nest is still waiting for us. We always reminisce about those few precious days that we had together before Don shipped off to Viet Nam.

Over the years we have come to realize that Carmel is not so different than Eureka Springs. They both offer quaint little cottages and colorful motor court motels that are just so full of charm. They both have a wonderful mixture of art galleries, boutiques and fine restaurants and offer a storybook ambiance that can be appreciated by romantics of all ages. Probably the main difference is that Carmel has the Pacific Ocean as its back drop and Eureka Springs has its meandering streets that are built on the side of a mountain!

So if you can't make it to the Pacific Ocean... come on over and enjoy our little “Carmel Nest” while you too enjoy all that Eureka Springs has to offer.

Another bonus... you aren't sharing a wall with another guest room as it sits at the end of the "Lodge" and the room next to it is being used for storage!

It has a queen bed. A separate kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker with coffee. TV. And of course its own private bathroom along with air conditioning!

"Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality during our Stay at Oak Crest Lodge. We
really enjoyed our time in the "Paris Flat". We were sad when it was time to leave. We will definitely stay with you on our next trip to Eureka." Springs! Joe and Jennifer Janes

"It was such a joy to meet you both. Elaine, we loved your sense of humor.

Besides that, you offered a wonderful getaway-hideway. The room was quaint, clean, so comfortable and charming. It brought back the feeling of my N.Y. Apartment.

We look forward to our next visit with you, in the fall.
We wish you the best with "Eureka Springs Treehouses". I'm sure they will be a great success and a great asset to a wonderful hamlet."
