Gosh…where do I begin with trying to explain how the Abbey Chateau came about…
When Don & I went to England and while experiencing four weeks of different countryside walks it always seemed that at least once a week we walked to some abbey ruins. Out of all our walks, these seemed to always be our favorite.
I mean here out in the middle of nowhere were the ruins of an abbey that existed over 500 years ago. It might only have a couple of columns or maybe even just the footprint that researchers discovered. But no matter what the ruins entailed it always seemed to be the most romantic part of all our walks. We would always save our picnic lunch until we arrived at the abbey. We’d lay back and just imagine what it was like way back when.
I pondered how many couples started their lives right on that very spot! To me it was just all-medieval romance when the knight in shining armor would rescue the damsel in distress and they’d live happily ever after.
There are many Abbeys that were saved and brought back to life. Many of these have been converted into romantic lodging. So after finding that out I just had to create our very own romantic Abbey!
