Discover alternative techniques in pastel using examples by 18th century pastel masters Jean Etienne Liotard and Maurice-Quentin de la Tour. Exploration of their masterful portraits, handling of fabric and form, and nuances of skin tone will produce realistic and convincing renditions of human subjects. Students will have ample opportunity to apply and begin to master the techniques observed in Liotard and La Tour’s work.
